There is an Exciting New Breakthrough in LASER Development.  ELK Industries, is announcing the Development of an extremely rugged and compact, High Power Semiconductor LASER, the MODEL 6501. It produces 1 watt at 650 nm, which is a very useful wavelength for a wide range of applications. The collimated output beam of the LASER is actually (slightly) elliptical in shape in the near field, and rectangular, yet very concentrated in the far field.

Certainly, in fields of study such as LASER Microscopy, genetic research, LASER ablation and LASER ablation Spectroscopy, material science, LASER pumping of other LASER Materials (such as Cr:LiSAF), LASER Communications, Security applications, and countless other fields, this LASER can be key to successful results.
In Applications such as LASER Displays and Demonstrations, LASER Light shows, playback of Holograms, and Full Color Projection Systems, for example, this LASER has "what it takes" to provide an economical way to generate High Power LASER Radiant Flux in a medium Red Color. And, due to it's ruggedness and compact size, it can be shipped or transported to various locations without concerns about it's fragility, such as would be the case with Krypton Ion LASERS, which operate at a similar Wavelength (647 nm). In terms of Efficiency, the Model 6501 LASER is Incredibly Efficient, using less than 5 watts of Electricity! No Krypton LASER was ever anywhere near this efficient. For Use in Education (of Optics, for instance), this LASER can Demonstrate a plethera of Phenomenae, such as Refraction, Reflectance, "Speed of Light" in various mediums, Optical Communications, LASER Modulation, "How To" build Telescopes and Microscopes, and many more!

In addition, the LASER can be Modulated by a TTL Input signal of up to 10 KHz, via a standard BNC connection. It comes fully Certified as FDA/CDRH/IEC Compliant, with the Required Labels, Emission Delay, Key Control, Beam Attenuator, Emission Indicator, Distribution Records, and Reporting to the CDRH, as well as complete with User Instruction Manual with reference to the applicable ANSI standards, and CDRH Regulations.

Also, this LASER is designed to provide maintenance free operation for well over 100,000 Hours at it's rated output. It is designed in such a way that there is simply no other source of LASER Radiation with this compact Size (4.5" wide x 9" long x 4" high) that can produce 1 watt of 650 nm wavelength output with anywhere near it's structural integrity, period. There are also convenient 1/4-20 threaded mounting holes on the bottom and the top of the LASER. Both the Bottom and the top surface of the LASER is built with Solid Flat Bars of Aluminum, 1/2 inch thick, and 4 inches wide, making it "invulnerable" to enormous amounts of environmental "punishment". In the accompanying Photograph, you can see the MODEL 6501 Mounted atop a sturdy Tripod (available as an accessory). The Tripod provides "Go Anywhere" Adjustments and Leveling Indication for Zenith, Azimuth, Pitch, and complete Elevation Control, and comes with a Removable Head.
